Methi chi Amti/Dal Methi

Ingredients                                            serving size- 3-4 persons

¾ cup toor dal(yellow lentils), 1 bunch methi (fenugreek) leaves washed, cleaned and chopped., 3-4 garlic cloves crushed, 1-2 red chilies, 1-2 dried kokum halves, ½ -1 tbsp goda masala, ½ tbsp chili powder, pinch of turmeric powder, 4-5 tbsp oil, pinch of mustard and cumin seeds, 3 cups of water salt and 2 tbsp jaggery to taste.

How to make

  • Cook tur dal along with methi leaves pinch of turmeric powder and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
  • When it is done mash it well.
  • keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan /kadhai and add mustard and cumin seeds.
  • Now add garlic and red chili.
  • Add turmeric powder and pour cooked tur dal and methi in it.
  • Add water 3 cups of water and bring it to the boil.
  • Now add chili powder, goda masala, kokam halves, jaggery and salt
  • Simmer for few minutes till all ingredients get well mixed.
  • Serve with plain rice.

Tips

Adjust the amount of jaggery and chilli powder as per taste.
