Easy Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

2 big tomatoes, 1 big onion, 2tbsp oil, 1/2 tbsp termeric, 2 tbsp sambar masala, salt to taste.
for tempering(tadka): 2 tbsp oil, 3-4 curry leaves, pinch of asafoetida, 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tbsp black lentil (split) gram (udad dal).

How to make

  • Cut tomatoes and onion.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and fry onion till it turns pink or transparent.
  • Add termeric followed by tomatoes.
  • Fry for some time till tomatoes get cooked.
  • Now add sambar masala.
  • fry for some time and turn off the heat.
  • let the whole content cool.
  • Add salt.
  • Now put the mixture in a blender and make a fine paste.
  • Transfer the paste in a suitable container.
  • Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds follwed by black lentil gram and curry leaves.
  • Add pinch of asafoetida(hing).
  • Turn of the heat.
  • Pour this tadka on the top of chutney.
