Easy Tomato Chutney
Ingredients
2 big tomatoes, 1 big onion, 2tbsp oil, 1/2 tbsp termeric, 2 tbsp sambar masala, salt to taste.
for tempering(tadka): 2 tbsp oil, 3-4 curry leaves, pinch of asafoetida, 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tbsp black lentil (split) gram (udad dal).
How to make
- Cut tomatoes and onion.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and fry onion till it turns pink or transparent.
- Add termeric followed by tomatoes.
- Fry for some time till tomatoes get cooked.
- Now add sambar masala.
- fry for some time and turn off the heat.
- let the whole content cool.
- Add salt.
- Now put the mixture in a blender and make a fine paste.
- Transfer the paste in a suitable container.
- Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds follwed by black lentil gram and curry leaves.
- Add pinch of asafoetida(hing).
- Turn of the heat.
- Pour this tadka on the top of chutney.
